Indications / Uses of ANTIOX Mebendazole 20mg / mL Suspension
Mebendazole is prescribed for treating infections caused by parasitic worms like roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, and pinworm that affect the intestines.
What are the side-effects of ANTIOX Mebendazole 20mg / mL Suspension?
Like all medications, this drug may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. If you notice any of the following serious side effects, stop using Mebendazole Tablets immediately and inform your doctor right away, as you may require urgent medical attention:
- Sudden swelling of your face or throat, hives (also known as nettle rash or urticaria), severe skin irritation, reddening, or blistering. These could indicate a severe allergic reaction.
- Blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes, and genitals.
- Convulsions (fits).
- Fever or flu-like symptoms, which may be an early sign of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a severe skin reaction.
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of the following side effects:
Common:
- Stomach pain.
Uncommon:
- Stomach discomfort.
- Diarrhea.
- Flatulence (wind).
Rare:
- Rash.
- Inflammation of the liver.
- Changes in liver enzymes (as detected in blood tests).
- Reduction in white blood cells (as detected in blood tests), which may increase your risk of infections.
- Unusual hair loss.
- Dizziness.
Very rare:
- Inflammation of the kidneys.
- Nausea.
- Vomiting.
Dosage / Direction for Use of ANTIOX Mebendazole 20mg / mL Suspension
Always read the leaflet or consult with your doctor or pharmacist before use.
Shake well before use. DO NOT take it during meals.
Adults and Children over 1 year old
Pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis): Take a single 5 ml dose. Repeat after 2-4 weeks to prevent reinfection. The first dose kills the worms but not the eggs.
Whipworms (Trichuris trichiura), Roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), Hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus): Take 5 ml in the morning and evening for 3 days.
Threadworms (Strongyloides stercoralis) or Tapeworms (Taenia spp.):
Adults: 10 ml in the morning and evening for 3 days.
Children over 1 year old: 5 ml in the morning and evening for 3 days.
Shake well before use. DO NOT take it during meals.

Contraindications
Do not take Mebendazole:
- If you have previously experienced an allergic reaction (such as rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to Mebendazole or any of its ingredients.
- If you are pregnant or planning to have a baby soon. Alert your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while using this medication, as Mebendazole may harm your unborn child. Effective birth control methods must be used while taking Mebendazole.
- If you are taking metronidazole, an antibiotic.
Special Precautions
Before starting Mebendazole tablets, it is important to inform your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:
- Crohn's ileitis, a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the ileum (the last part of the small intestine).
- Ulcerative colitis, a disease characterized by inflammation and ulcers in the lining of the large intestine and rectum.
- Liver disease.
